Header: Childhood Immunization Information for Parents

The North Carolina Immunization Branch offers important information concerning your child's immunizations.

Children are required to receive six different vaccines by the time they enroll in kindergarten. These six vaccinations protect against ten different diseases. Know what vaccines your child needs and keep them up-to-date.

Most vaccine-preventable diseases are rare in the United States due to vaccinations. They are rare because of the success of vaccines. If we take away the protection given by vaccination, more and more people will get infected and spread disease to others, and soon we will have undone the progress we made over the years. If we stopped vaccinating in the United States, before long we would see epidemics of diseases that are nearly under control today. More children would get sick and more would die.
